I have seen a few pike flies recently with a big curly tail.

After some googling I came across Pacchiarini's Wiggle Tails.
I went for the XL "normal" design, there a few to choose from, and after seeing these in the water, I am sure they are all designed and tested, and work!
They come with a wee pack of connectors, one for the fly side, one for the tail. This means they have some flexibility whilst being tied on securely, but also they can be removed and changed easily, which is a big plus.
This is how I tied it up:

I tied up a basic blue and white baitfish streamer pattern, but used a slightly bigger hook than I usually use. This was on a 4/0 sakuma manta, using semperfli predator fibres, and a little flash down the lateral line, with a resin head and some 3D eyes.

Probably should have done this step first, but anyway...
I clipped the fly out the way with an XL dubbing/hackle clip, and then tied in the hook side of the connecting mechanism. It has a handy loop to make sure it stays put on the fly. I coated this with a little UV resin to keep it put.

Secure the the tail-side connector to the vice, and wrap on some thread.

Tie in the very outer edge corner of the tail, then wrap it round the shank of the connector

After wrapping, tie it in fully like you would with any other materials. I also coated this with a little UV resin to make sure it sticks. Then simply connect the 2 connectors, ensuring the outer edge of the tail is facing upwards.
I took this one for a quick whirl with the 10wt, and whistles a little through the air with some resistance, taking some distance off the cast. I could have probably gone down a hook size, but hopefully Il need a big one to get the big fish in on it! But it looks amazing in the water, and I'm looking forward to some pike and pollock on it for sure this year!
